We had cauliflower cheese for lunch today, using a lovely cauliflower from the local farm shop. A lot of the outer leaves had been trimmed off, but those that we left plus the stalky bits also went in, the only bits thrown out were a couple of really dirty leaves and the very bottom of the stalk.

We had chicken wings and salad for tea, followed by a crumble using yet more frozen blackcurrants, and a couple of tired-looking pears from the fruit bowl.

The chicken bones went into the slow cooker overnight with a few of the dried onion skins. This produced a lovely brown coloured and tasty chicken stock, that is now in the fridge waiting to be made into soup.
